The Bellevue High School Safety and Security Squad was created to teach students basic life safety skills in order to build confidence and resilience during response to emergencies and disasters of all types. This innovative, unique program offers students the opportunity to learn emergency response skills, like fire safety and suppression and active threats, but also explore suspicious activity reporting and social media and the law.
In order to offer high-level training opportunities, Bellevue High School is partnering with BSD Safety and Security, Bellevue Fire Department and the Bellevue Police Department. This life-changing training makes students and those around them safer in an emergency.
The BHS Safety Squad program is currently in its first year and only offered to Bellevue High School students. In the future, partners are looking forward to building capacity in order to offer similar programs at other schools in the district.
