Home-Based Instruction
At the beginning of the school year, each parent whose child is receiving home-based instruction for that school year must file a Declaration of Intent to Home School by September 15 of the school year or throughout the year as they decide to provide home-based instruction.
Request for Part-Time Attendance or Ancillary Services
Resident students receiving home-based instruction or enrolled in private school are permitted to enroll and receive ancillary services, provided that such students are otherwise eligible for full-time enrollment in the school district, all instruction and services must take place in the attendance area school. Private school students may request courses or services that are not available in the student’s private school or an approved extension. Students receiving home-based instruction and private school students requesting courses or ancillary services from the district, will need to submit a Request for Part-time Attendance or Ancillary Services Form each school year.
Ancillary service is defined to include counseling, testing, remedial instruction, communication disorders services, physical and occupational therapy, health services, psychological services, tutorial services such as home instruction for the physically disabled and sports activities.

The Bellevue Discovery Family Partnership offers families a flexible, supportive, and innovative learning community and supports blending home-based learning with program classes. This program will offer robust in-person classes, be a community hub for students and families, and incorporate the existing Bellevue Digital Discovery elementary school to offer flexible online learning options. Statewide, similar partnership programs provide learning support and community to students and families who engage in home-based learning. Bellevue Discovery Family Partnership emphasizes student well-being and leverages parent support to emphasize student-led learning and offer robust academics and enrichment for each individual student in a supportive learning community. Our partnership program promotes extensive collaboration between a Bellevue School District teacher, the student, and their family in designing a personalized Student Learning Plan that honors the students’ individual needs and meets school district standards.
