Superintendent Community Advisory Council
Superintendent Community Advisory Council (SCAC)
Each year, the BSD Superintendent Community Advisory Council (SCAC) makes recommendations to the superintendent on major issues impacting our district. This year’s focus will be on defining what best-in-class community engagement should look like in BSD. The SCAC meets once per month, from October to April for two hours, with pre-work and preparation required between meetings. The group produces an annual recommendations report to the superintendent and is supported by professional staff.

Phase 3: 2022 – 2023
The 2022 – 2023 Council will advise BSD on successful and effective community engagement. One of the most important elements of a school district’s relationship with its community is how it engages its stakeholders. This year’s Council will focus on how BSD can fully leverage its enormous community resources – public, private, non-profit, and governmental – on behalf of the student experience.

Phase 4: 2023 – 2024
The 2023-24 Superintendent Community Advisory Council (SCAC) will advise the Superintendent on engaging the community in a deep and authentic way and will gather, synthesize and share community input throughout the study. SCAC will use the Middle School Enrollment and Potential Consolidation Study Process as a case study to design an equity centered roadmap for community engagement. It is important to note that the Council will focus on the community engagement process and will not be making any recommendations related to middle school enrollment.
