Inclusion and Accessibility Design Team - Bellevue School District

Purpose

The Inclusion and Accessibility Design Team is dedicated to transforming our Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 processes through a human-centered, inclusive design approach. Our mission is to create an equitable and supportive experience for families, students, and staff alike. We will focus on every aspect of the process, from the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) collaboration and initial evaluation to the development and implementation of individualized plans. By evaluating and refining these processes, we aim to ensure that every participant receives the tailored support they need to thrive.

Coalition Composition

To ensure a wide range of perspectives, the Design Team was formed in three ways:

Application (random selection within groups, roles, programs, and services to ensure diverse voices are represented)
Appointment (such as a School Board Director and Special Education Staff to foster collaboration and build shared understanding of experiences withing our learning community)
Sortition (direct outreach to include people who may not feel agency and access through the traditional application process)
