 2018 AP Fellows Program

AP Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for teachers at high schools serving minority or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses. The $1,000 scholarships cover the cost of APSI tuition; any remaining funds may be applied to travel and expenses.

Scholarship criteria

Teachers must:

  • Plan to teach an AP course in the 2018-19 academic year
  • Teach in a school at which at least 50 percent of the student population consists of underrepresented minorities (African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and/or American Indian students), and/or at least 50 percent of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch
  • Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years

2018 AP Rural Fellows Program

AP Rural Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The $1,500 scholarships cover APSI tuition as well as travel and expenses.

Scholarship criteria

Teachers must:

  • Plan to teach an AP course in the 2018-19 academic year
  • Teach in a school that is classified as “rural” by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and at which at least 50 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch
  • Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years

2018 AP Redesign Scholarships

AP Redesign Scholarships cover APSI tuition costs for teachers who will be teaching the redesigned AP U.S. Government and Politics in the 2018-19 academic year.

Scholarship criteria

  • Plan to teach AP U.S. Government and Politics in the 2018–19 academic year
  • Teach in districts with a median income of below $87,500 and/or in schools at which at least 50 percent of the student qualify for free or reduced-price lunch
