High School and Beyond
The High School & Beyond Plan revolves around three questions:
Who am I? What can I become? How do I become that?
The High School & Beyond Plan (HSBP), a graduation requirement, will help you get the most out of high school and think about your future.
Your High School & Beyond Plan is intended to guide your middle school and high school experience so that you can prepare for high school graduation and your goals for after high school.
Many 9th and 10th grade students will have some time on October 9, 2024, to complete several parts of their High School and Beyond Plan. These tasks are located in Naviance. School counselors will follow up with students about their High School and Beyond Plan during individual student appointments and classroom lessons.
The High School and Beyond Plan includes:
- The 4-year Course Plan. This plan should be reviewed and updated each year to ensure that you are taking courses required for graduation, and that your plan includes courses that will help you prepare for your goals after high school.
- The Career Interest Profiler. The Career Interest Profiler captures your interests to help identify your personality traits. This information is used to suggest careers based on the U.S. Department of Labor’s data.
- The Game Plan Survey. The Game Plan Survey includes a series of questions designed to help your counselor work with you to develop a game plan for achieving your goals after graduation. You will be asked about your career interests, college interests, specific college preferences, and potential references.
- Resume. A résumé is a good way to introduce yourself. You will usually need one if you are applying for a job, an internship, or scholarship, and one may be needed for a college application. A résumé summarizes who you are including, but not limited to your experience, what you can do, and your unique skills, talents, and leadership and/or athletic abilities.
- My Graduation Pathways Survey. All students must meet the requirements of at least one graduation pathway option in order to graduate from high school. These options include the Smarter Balanced Assessment, Dual Credit courses, AP and IB courses, SAT or ACT scores, completing a prescribed sequence of CTE courses and meeting standard on the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). Students indicate on the survey which pathway(s) they plan to use to meet the requirement. Survey responses are updated junior and senior year.
- My Financial Aid Options Survey. This survey is completed senior year following Financial Aid Advising Day lessons. The survey ensures that students have the information they need to pursue financial aid, scholarships, etc. to help with costs of college, apprenticeship programs, etc.
- BSD Graduation Survey. This survey is completed senior year in April or May. In this survey students share with BSD their plans following graduation.
