Japanese Dual Language Program
The Japanese Dual Language Immersion Program welcomes students from a variety of language backgrounds. Dual language offers students a chance to add another language at the optimal age for language learning. Program instruction is systematically delivered in both English and Japanese languages. Students read, write, listen and speak in both languages becoming bilingual, biliterate and bicultural while working towards grade level academic achievement.
Students who join the program while they are young have the ability to gain language ability faster and develop language skills similar to a native learner. Language learning at a young age increases cognitive development and allows for deeper levels of understanding which may lead to greater success in university language courses and employment opportunities. Language skills open the door to other countries, cultures and people.

The 2026-2027 Course Catalog is now available. The Course Catalog provides information about all courses offered at BSD's middle and high schools, to assist students as they explore their options.

The BSD Teaching and Learning team is excited to announce the launch of i-Ready Assessment and Personalized Instruction (My Path) K-8 for English and Spanish dual language immersion, literacy, and math for the 2025-2026 school year!
