Korean World Language Curriculum Adoption Committee (Level 1-4)
During the 2023-2024 school year, a significant interest in Korean language and cultural education emerged from parents, students, and educators within the Bellevue School District. In response to this community interest, the district initiated a collaborative co-design process.
This process culminated in the successful integration of Korean into the secondary World Language department, starting in the 2024-2025 school year. Currently, Korean is offered as a World Language for middle school students, with plans to expand the program to high school students in 2025.
To ensure the highest quality of instruction, the district is establishing an adoption committee to review the Korean curriculum for our World Language classes: EPIC Korean.
Purpose
The purpose of the Korean Curriculum Adoption Committee is to carry out the instructional materials selection process and make a recommendation to the Instructional Materials Committee based up on objective evidence gathered during the process. The decision will be based on what is in the best interest of our students, and alignment with World Readiness Standards for Language Learners and Global Competency.
