Students with a 504 Plan or an IEP may meet with their school counselor to submit a request to the College Board to use the school-based accommodations they regularly use for assessments at school for the AP exams. The family will need to sign a Consent Form for Accommodations Request before the school counselor can begin the submission process. Students and parents should carefully consider what accommodations would best serve the student in seeking to maximize their performance on the exam. Many students will find the digital format of the exams to be more accessible than the previous paper tests, including the use of a keyboard for entering their extended response items and essays.
Submitting requests for accommodations: School Counselors use an online form to submit the request for accommodations. They affirm that the student has access to the accommodations they are requesting for the exams during their school assessments as described in their IEP or 504 Plan. The College Board publishes a deadline of January 16, 2026 to submit the forms for accommodations on the May AP exams. If a request is submitted after January 16, the College Board does not guarantee that they will process the request by March 13 when exam registration closes.
College Board-approved Accommodations – Test Administration
Once approved the accommodations are applicable for all AP exams taken during the student’s high school experience. Exams with accommodations will be administered at the District AP Test Center, not at the school. Students with extended time can take only one exam per day so if two exams occur on the same scheduled date, the Director of AP Testing will reschedule one of them for the late-testing window.
The AP Test Center staff will communicate with students and families to inform them of the test-day details.
