5630: Volunteers

  • 5000: Personnel
5630: Volunteers

Adoption Date: Nov. 20, 2012

The district recognizes the valuable contribution made to the total school program through the volunteer assistance of parents and other citizens. In working with volunteers, district staff will explain the volunteer's responsibility for supervising students, e.g. in school, on the playground, at school activities, and on field trips. On field trips both students and volunteers are to be informed of the rules of student behavior and the means by which they are to be held accountable to those rules.

Volunteers will be advised that they will be subjected to background checks with the Washington State Patrol.

The superintendent or designee will be responsible for developing and implementing procedures for the utilization of volunteers, including but not limited to recruiting of volunteers, training of volunteers, reward and recognition programs, selection for specific assignments, and limiting volunteer participation when necessary.
