5255: Gifts to Staff

Presents to certificated employees from their class or from patrons of the district shall be strongly discouraged.

Simple remembrances expressive of affection or gratitude shall not be regarded as a violation of this rule and when a pupil feels a spontaneous desire to present a gift to a certificated employee, the gift should not be elaborate or unduly expensive.

The Board shall consider as always welcome, and in most cases more appropriate than gifts, the writing of letters to certificated employees expressing gratitude or appreciation.
