Xfinity - Comcast Donates 100 Laptops to Bellevue School District to Support Student Learning

Xfinity - Comcast Donates 100 Laptops to Bellevue School District to Support Student Learning

A partnership with the Welcome Center and commitment to digital equity

Bellevue, WA — September 18, 2025 — The Bellevue School District (BSD) is proud to announce a generous donation of 100 laptops from Comcast, presented by Bellevue Xfinity Retail Store Manager Makenna Strasbaugh to BSD Superintendent Dr. Kelly Aramaki. This gift will help ensure that students in need have the tools to stay connected and engaged in their learning.

“This donation reflects the strength of community partnerships in supporting every student’s success,” said Dr. Kelly Aramaki, BSD Superintendent. “We are grateful to Xfinity for stepping up in such a meaningful way. These laptops will make a direct impact for students and families who need extra access to technology.”

While the district issues a device to every student in BSD, some families face additional challenges that make a single computer insufficient. This donation helps ensure that families in need of a device can have access. According to the Washington Student Achievement Council, approximately 86% of K-12 students in Washington households with an annual income of less than $10,000 had a computer at home, compared to nearly 98% of students in households with an annual income of $200,000 or more. “From multiple families sharing laptop devices, to advanced STEM or creative coursework that requires more powerful hardware, or unexpected technical issues, the need for additional devices is real. Xfinity's contribution will help bridge those gaps, says Janine Thorn, spokesperson for the Bellevue School District.

The laptops were formally handed over at a morning event at the Xfinity Retail Store in Factoria Village, followed by delivery to the Bellevue School District's Welcome Center.

“BSD’s Strategic Plan emphasizes inspiring and supporting each and every student through equitable access, strong partnerships, and innovative learning opportunities. The Welcome Center in our school district will be able to provide families with laptops, and this donation reflects that shared vision," says Director Ricardo Macias.

The Bellevue School District, with over 20,000 students and 28 schools, is a diverse and dynamic district in East King County, Washington. Its mission is "To serve each and every student academically, socially, and emotionally through a rigorous and relevant education that is innovative and individualized. As a learning community that values one another's humanity, we provide courageous support for an equitable and exceptional education for all students."
