School Board Vacancy and Nomination Process – District 4
The Bellevue School District is filling a School Board Director vacancy for Director District 4 due to Director Monica Webster’s resignation on November 6, 2025.
In accordance with Board Policy 1114 and Procedure 1114P (Board Member Resignation and Vacancy) and RCW 28A.343.370, members of the community are invited to nominate candidates for the position or apply for the position. Nominees and applicants must be registered voters who reside in Director District 4.

Time Commitment and Compensation
Regular board meetings are normally held on the first and third Thursday of each month except for February and July when there is one meeting per month. In addition, special board planning sessions are scheduled on Mondays of board meeting weeks.
Each Board Director may receive compensation of $50 per day, or a portion thereof, for attending board meetings and for performing other services on behalf of the school district, not to exceed $4,800 per year.
Summary of the Process to Fill a School Board Vacancy
In an executive session on January 8, 2026, the Board will review the qualifications of the candidates. No more than five applicants will be selected and notified for interviews in a special board meeting open to the public on January 9, 2026. The Board will return to the Executive Session to review the qualifications of the candidates and then complete the appointment of a new director in public session.
The newly appointed board director will be sworn in at the regular school board meeting on January 22, 2026
The newly appointed director will serve until the expiration of the current term in November 2027. At that time, the position will be filled by a general election. The person selected to fill the unexpired term is eligible to run for election, along with any other candidates who file for election in accordance with the King County Elections filing date.

- Friday, January 9, 2026 - Special Meeting for Public Interviews at 12:00 p.m. with an Executive Session following the interviews.
