Resource and Support for BSD Families and Community

Resource and Support for BSD Families and Community

Although the federal shutdown was lifted on Wednesday, November 12, we recognize that families receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may still experience delays or disruptions. As families navigate challenges related to the federal government shutdown, it is essential to recognize the impact on families who are already facing systemic barriers to food access.

Please know that the Bellevue School District (BSD) is committed to supporting students and families. If you have any questions or need support, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your school’s family engagement specialist or the BSD Welcome Center.

BSD Nutrition Services - School Meals Update:

We want to reassure you that your child’s free or reduced-price meal status at school is NOT affected by the federal government shutdown, which has now impacted the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). School meal programs remain funded and available for our students.

As a reminder, lunch is served daily in all schools.

Breakfast is offered each morning in the following schools:

Elementary

Ardmore, Clyde Hill, Enatai, Lake Hills, Phantom Lake, Sherwood Forest, Spiritridge & Stevenson

All students attending Ardmore, Highland, Lake Hills, Phantom Lake, Sherwood Forest, and Stevenson have access to both breakfast and lunch at no cost.

Middle Schools

Chinook, Highland, Odle, Tillicum &Tyee

High Schools

Bellevue, Interlake, Newport, & Sammamish

If you are unsure whether you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please get in touch with Nutrition Services at 425-456-4507 or nutrition@bsd405.org. Our office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Families affected by the federal government shutdown or a recent loss of income should consider completing the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) application. The application can represent the household situation at the time of application.  If students are approved for meal benefits, their eligibility remains in effect for the entire school year. However, if the household situation changes, they are encouraged to contact Nutrition Services to notify them that the household is no longer eligible.
