Join the 2026 Disciplinary Appeal Council – Parents and Guardians Needed

The district is looking for two parent/guardian representatives that represent the diversity of our schools to participate on the BSD Disciplinary Appeals Council (DAC), and at least one alternate.

The DAC is an important function of the Bellevue School District. The purpose of DAC is to ensure students’ rights are being preserved and district policies and procedures are followed.  It is used as the final appeal for disciplinary decisions; sexual harassment complaints; discrimination complaints; and harassment, intimidation and bullying complaints.  DAC members are appointed by the School Board and serve for one calendar year.

Apply

If you would like to participate, please complete and submit this brief application of interest no later than January 16, 2026.  If selected, you are committing to being recommended to the School Board for DAC participation and making a commitment as a DAC representative for a calendar year.  Typically, the DAC typically convenes between 6 and 10 appeals/hearings a year.  Each hearing takes between 90 minutes and two hours.

A good candidate will be able to:

  • Keep an open mind
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Make decisions that are aligned to Board Policies and District Procedures
  • Consider multiple points of view and varied contexts
  • Possess flexibility in scheduling of hearings/appeals

Next Steps
