Coming Soon: Test of AI Chatbot on BSD405.org
This summer, the Communications and Welcome Center teams will be partnering to test a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool on bsd405.org. Ask AI is an interactive chatbot designed to help families and community members quickly find the information they need.
This test will help us:
- Understand the most common questions families are asking
- Identify gaps and unclear information on our website
- Evaluate how well the chatbot supports users and staff
This tool is funded through the Technology and Capital Projects Levy.
How Will a Chatbot Help Families?
Our goals for the chatbot align with the district’s Strategic Plan priority of Building Human-Centered Systems and Relationships. The chatbot is intended to:
- Make information easier to access with a modern, user-friendly tool
- Provide faster answers about district processes, programs and services
- Free up staff time by reducing routine questions via phone and email – allowing more time for customized support for families who need it
This project is also part of the long-term work to continuously improve communications at BSD, an extension of the recommendations offered through an audit by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
About Ask AI
Ask AI provides real-time assistance and answers directly from websites and approved documents. Ask AI is designed to answer the most common, time-sensitive questions families already ask this department (deadlines, procedures, calendars, requirements, etc.), directly from approved website content.

What Ask AI Does and Does Not Do
- Supports 45+ languages, allowing families to ask questions and receive answers in their preferred language.
- Allows users to ask questions conversationally, like they would ask a person.
- Provides answers in a chat window instead of requiring searching or clicking through pages.
- Shares information directly from official website content.
- Provides quick, 24/7 responses to common questions.
- Does not make decisions, access confidential systems, or replace human follow-up and support from district staff.
Next Steps
Our plan is to test the chatbot through August 2026, paying special attention to our enrollment and back-to-school content. We will monitor results throughout the test and make adjustments as needed, with the intent of launching the chatbot on all school websites in September.
