Title I Improvement Award

Ardmore Elementary and Lake Hills Elementary are two of 48 schools statewide to have been selected to receive the state’s Title I Improvement Award.  Each school will receive $3,500 to be used to support the schools ' continued efforts to increase student academic success.  Schools were selected based on their students’ performance data on the WASL.  To qualify schools had to meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three years (2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07); be Title I funded for the same three years; and show improvement overall on the WASL.

Schools Under Construction

September 2008 will see the opening of two brand new school buildings Newport Heights Elementary and Sherwood Forest Elementary. Crews will be working during the summer to make sure the sites are ready to welcome students, staff and parents back to school on September 2. In addition to moving these two schools in their new buildings, the district's Facilities Department will be moving Eastgate Elementary into the district's swing-school site, Bellewood, where staff and students will operate while their school is being rebuilt.
