Two-way teaching | BSD dual-language program providing curriculum for culturally changing future
When the program began with Lizano's class last year the mission was simple: teach in two languages, with roughly half the students being native-English speakers and the other half native-speakers of the target language, in Lizano's case, Spanish. Lizano's class at Sherwood Forest a glimpse into the future. For Lizano, taking the instruction into Spanish not only expands the base for native-English speaking students, it helps reinforce the value of the target language to its own native speakers.

Kindness Certifies School
Congratulations to Sherwood Forest Elementary! Because of our students’ participation in The Great Kindness Challenge, our school is officially designated as a KINDNESS CERTIFIED SCHOOL! Every year, the Kids for Peace organization internationally sponsors the Great Kindness challenge. For 2015 they report that 2,193,284 students in 4,142 schools in 45 countries participated in the 2015 Great Kindness Challenge. The primary goal of Kids for Peace and The Great Kindness Challenge is to promote kindness, respect and an overall peaceful school environment every day. Sherwood is truly part of a global kindness movement. Sherwood Forest students are actively making such a positive difference at our school, in our community and in our world.
