Gifted Programs

The Gifted Program is designed for students indicated as gifted through cognitive and academic testing and superior academic performance whose academic needs are beyond the scope of the general education classroom. Services are designed to provide a challenging, accelerated, integrated and enriched curriculum.

New Gifted Middle School Enrollment Boundaries

Bellevue School District hired a demographer to look at population and enrollment trends.  Based upon his recommendations, the new boundaries for GMSP are as follows:

Gifted Middle School attendance is based upon each student’s neighborhood/home school, not the gifted school which s/he currently attends.  Parents of 5th grade students should locate their neighborhood school to determine the middle school of enrollment for the 2015-16 school years. See report...

New Identification Process

The BSD gifted identification process used to include only test scores from the CogAT 7 and IOWA Assessments. Recent changes to the State law require that we use multiple criteria to include both qualitative and quantitative data to identify students. Learn more...

January/February 2015 Testing

All letters with test date information were sent out via US Mail by December 15, 2014.  If you did not receive your letter, please send an email to with your child’s name, grade and school.

Gifted Report

In the Spring of 2011, the Bellevue School District Gifted Programs contracted with Dr. Joyce Van Tassel-Baska, from the College of William and Mary, to perform a comprehensive program review of the policies and practices of our gifted programs.
