Please also remember that Curriculum Night is not a time for individual conferences with your child’s teacher.

Picture Day is this Tuesday:  A reminder that Tuesday, September 12, is picture day for all students.

Thank you for a Sweet Ice Cream Social 2017:  ¡Mil gracias! Thank you to all the families for attending our biggest Ice Cream Social to date! A special thank you to the PTA, Natalie and Drew Danielson for coordinating the event!

Contact the Main Office and your Teacher for an Absence:  A friendly reminder that when you have a sick student, appointment, or other reason as to why your child is not at school, it is important that contact your child’s teacher and email or call the front office at puestaattendance@bsd405.org or (425) 456-6152.

Apply for Gifted 2017-18:  Please see the attached information: Gifted Info Fall 2017

Writing Names on Clothing and Backpacks:  As the weather changes and students are bringing more clothing to school (e.g., coats), please be sure to write your child’s name on their belongings. Also check the lost and found in the gym area in the event that something goes missing.

Respect (Respeto) – Our Virtue of the Month for September:  Throughout the school year, we encourage families to discuss, revisit and reinforce our monthly virtues. Our Noticias will include general explanations as well as talking points to support discussions, for example:

What is respect?

Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. When we are respectful we treat others as we want to be treated. Respect includes honoring the rules of our family or school, which make life more orderly and peaceful. It is knowing that every man, woman and child deserve our respect.

Important Reminders

Parents, Visitors and Pets on Campus during School:  Outside of the 10 minutes before and after drop-off and pick-up, all adults, including parents, who come to campus must sign in at the office and wear a yellow name tag. Please adhere to this for the safety and security of all students and staff.

Please also remember that pets are not allowed on school campus before, during or after school. Service animals are welcome of course.

Parking:  Parking is often difficult on campus and the first few weeks of school can be particularly challenging. Please pay close attention to where parking is allowed and be mindful of the Childcare parking spaces as you enter campus on the right (the southeast lot). These spaces are designated for the Early Learning and After School Program and not the regular grades K-5 Puesta del Sol program.

When arriving on campus, be sure to never cross into the uphill, south bound lane where it is impossible to see oncoming vehicles thereby creating a major safety hazard. Instead, if you are unable to wait in line, park in the neighborhood and walk to campus.

Also related to parking, the Bellevue Police Department has asked that we remind you not to park along the right hand side (east side) of 133rd Ave SE between SE 41st ST and the entrance to campus. Cars parked on that side of the street encroach on the north bound flow of traffic onto campus and force cars to drive in the south bound lane. Other areas of the neighborhood where traffic can pass freely without crossing the center line are generally allowable, though please do not block drive ways and observe other street signs where posted.
