All families who submitted a lottery card application should plan on checking the lottery (posted in the school office) list beginning on March 11, 2015.  If you son/daughter was chosen for enrollment in September of 2015 you should ask the school office staff for an enrollment/registration packet.   Please do not call the school office for lottery results. 



Food Allergy Awareness


Dear Families;


With the advent of another “food holiday” I want to remind everyone in our community that we have students with severe life threatening food allergies in almost every classroom.


It’s our goal to ensure that every student in our school is safe.  Because students with severe allergies cannot be in contact with specific allergen containing foods, we are asking that you avoid sending any homemade foods to school for shared classroom food celebrations.


We are an

Allergy Aware School! Please coordinate with your child’s teacher before providing any snacks or treats to be shared with the class.




The best way to keep students with food allergies safe during classroom food celebrations is to ensure that their parents are aware of what outside food is being brought into the classroom.  We can only alert parents if everyone remembers to contact the teacher PRIOR to bringing food to school.  Two weeks prior would be ideal.  When you do bring food to school, please make sure all items are STORE-BOUGHT with clear, readable labels.


We want all of our students to enjoy classroom celebrations, but the less food, snacks, treats, candy, etc. in the classroom - the easier it is to keep all students safe.  Non-food items can be lots of fun too!

Testing in to Puesta del Sol

Please use Sign up Genius to register your child for testing consideration. The number of seats that are open will be determined by the school principal. We are a one out/one in status in Grades 1-5. In district residents have priority in testing over out of district residents. Siblings of enrolled students in Grades 1-5 at Puesta del Sol will have priority in placement. The testing is administered in Spanish. Waiting lists do not transfer year to year.

Make Payments Online with Touchbase

We are now offering a new Point of Sale website, called TouchBase. This is another convenient way for parents/guardians to be able to purchase school related items and view and pay for student fines and fees.

From the TouchBase website online payments for fees, field trips, donations and library fines which are linked to your student’s account are now being accepted. You can also view receipts for items previously purchased. In order to access the Point of Sale you need to visit the following site:

Once at the site you will need to use the login ID and password for one of your student. You will have a login for each student to purchase items via their student account. If you do not know your student’s ID please contact your student’s school.

The default Login ID is the child’s student id (e.g. 012345) and the default password is the child’s last name (Last names are proper case e.g. Smith).

Once logged in you can change your password by clicking the “your account” link in the top right hand corner of the page.

Attendance Reminder and Importance of Preserving Instructional Time:  With a new year and a return to school routines, it is a great time to remember the importance of students being in school every day on time, ready to learn. School starts at 9:05 every day. For absences, call the 24 hour attendance line at (425) 456-6512. Please remember to leave the student’s name, reason for the absence, together with your name and a phone number where you can be reached. Another reporting option is to email

Per our community handbook, when students have been absent from school, the Attendance Office must be notified with the dates and reason for the absence within 3 school days

It is also important that we also appropriately document students leaving before the end of the school day. Our attendance programs will now code afternoon absences and excused or unexcused early releases in addition to morning and all-day absences and tardies. Please be sure that any early releases are excusable (e.g., dental appointment) as per School Board Procedure #3122P, every 3 unexcused early releases will equal an unexcused absence. For more information on this and valid excuses for absences and tardiness, click here to review Board Procedure #3122P.

Testing & Enrollment

The Sign up Genius is NOT to be used for enrolling in the Kindergarten Lottery for the 15/16 school year.  Please attend the parent information night on January 22, 2015 in the school gym at 6:30 pm.

Please use the Sign-up Genius for testing and enrollment in the 14/15 school year for Grades 1-5. Waiting lists do not transfer from year to year. Learn more...  

Beginning on May 1, 2015 the Sign-up Genius will accept names and grade information for families that want to test in a student for the 15/16 school year. 

Safe Schools

Our district uses SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration via text, phone, web or email.
