Please call or email the school office by 9:15 every morning (of an absence)  if your son or daughter will be absent or tardy from school.  Please state your child's name (in the email or on the recording), teacher's name and reason for absence.  If you know in advance you are welcome to notify the office of upcoming absences or tardies due to medical appointments.  To excuse a medical tardy or lateness, please ask your dr for a written explanation and give to the school office secretary when you sign in.  Thank you!!!

The PdS Spring Robotics Academies are here! Information about the spring academies can be found at www.pdsrobotics.org. On-line registration for the spring academies begins Wednesday, March 12, at 9am. There are academies available for grades 1-5 in a variety of areas including Lego robotics, writing and storytelling with Lego bricks, and WeDo robotics, all classes are conducted in Spanish! Limited space is available and classes fill quickly.

If your child is in 3rd-4th grade and interested in applying for the PdS First Lego League competitive robotics team for the fall 2014 season, there will be a highly recommend parent meeting on Thursday, April 3 at 6-7pm in the library. Applications for the FLL team will be available at the parent meeting and in the school office, starting April 4.

This past weekend, three teams from PdS participated with

52 area teams at the North Sound First Lego League Regional in Edmonds, WA.

Puesta del Sol Team 2320, The Stormbots, received the Core Values

Inspirational Award. This award celebrates a team that is empowered by their FLL experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.

Puesta del Sol Team 2323, The Mustache Monkeys, ended the event in 6th place and earned a spot in the state Semi-Finals on February 9.

 

Attached is a team picture of all three PdS teams with their awards after the competition. The teams are comprised of fourth and fifth graders with student mentors from Tillicum, International School, Sammamish and Newport.

THE KINDERGARTEN lottery was posted on Wednesday, March 12th at 8:00 am.  Families should view the list-in the school office. Registration packets will be given to families who made it in to the program at this time.

In-district residents can still turn in residency forms to test in to Grades 4 and 5.  All other grades are closed for enrollment.  "The "Sign-up Genius" applies to the 13/14 school year only. The Sign-up Genius will be activated on May 1, 2014 for enrollment in the 14/15 school year for Grades 1-5.  Waiting lists do not transfer from year to year.

Please use the above link  Sign up Genius to register your child for testing consideration for 13/14.  The number of seats that are open will be determined by the school principal.  We are a one out/one in status in Grades 1-5.  In district residents have priority in testing over out of district residents.  Siblings of enrolled students will have priority in placement.  The testing is administered in Spanish. Waiting lists do not transfer year to year.   Updated 04/14/14
