It’s Open Enrollment time.
Bellevue students who are interested in attending a school outside their neighborhood may apply to transfer between schools in the District during our Open Enrollment period. The Open Enrollment period for the 2012-2013 school year is Monday, January 9 through Friday, February 10.
Before you apply, it’s a good idea to check the status of the school you’re interested in. That information is available here. Schools listed as “Open” have space available. Space is limited at schools listed as “1-In/1-Out”. At schools marked “Closed”, it’s unlikely that space will be available, though you may still submit an application.
Application forms are available at all school offices and at the Student Placement Office (12111 NE 1st St., Bellevue). Applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10. Late applications will not be considered.
All applications received during the Open Enrollment period are considered on an equal basis. After applications have been processed, parents will be notified by mail of the action taken.
Open Enrollment is for current District residents and full-time District employees only. More details about the Open Enrollment process are available here (English) and here (Spanish).
To learn more about the schools or district-wide programs that you are interested in, consider attending an Information Night. Each school in the District will hold an Information Night for parents of incoming Kindergartners, 6th and 9th graders during the Open Enrollment period, though parents of children in any grade may attend. A schedule of Information Nights is available here.
District-wide programs, such as International School, Big Picture School or Puesta del Sol Elementary - Spanish Immersion program, are lottery-based programs and are accepting lottery applications during the Open Enrollment period. Students may apply to these programs, regardless of where they live within the District. The application process for these programs varies. For more information, click here.
