Purpose

The purpose of the Integrated Math Topics 1 (IMT1) and Integrated Math Topics 2 (IMT2) |6th and 7th Grade Math Instructional Material Adoption Committee is to carry out the textbook selection process and make a recommendation to the Instructional Materials Committee based upon objective evidence gathered during the process. The committee will include teacher representatives, building/district administration, and a parent representative. The committee will be facilitated by the K-12 Math Curriculum Developer.

Role

The IMT1/IMT2 Instructional Material Adoption Committee members will:

  • Attend scheduled meetings
  • Serve as a communication link to the community they represent
  • Assist in collecting data regarding the instructional materials under consideration

Through a consensus process, make a formal recommendation to the Instructional Materials Committee

Timeline

  • May 2013: Form Adoption Committee
  • Tuesday, May 21st: Adoption Committee Release Day to Review Materials
  • September 2013: Materials sent to schools for review (publisher dependent)
  • Monday, October 14: Adoption Committee selects 2 sets of materials to pilot
  • 2013-14
    • Fall-Spring: Pilot in classrooms
    • Spring: Adoption recommendation to Instructional Materials Committee
  • 2014-15: Implement – Goal!
    • Smarter Balanced Assessment Spring 2015

Should additional materials become available, the pilot may continue with new materials
