Metro / ORCA Card Information:
Bellevue School District Transportation will load a Youth Bus Pass for King County Metro onto ELIGIBLE students ORCA Cards on a monthly basis. An ORCA Card in itself does not provide transportation, it must be loaded monthly with product (funds or a bus pass).
Students living outside the schools walk boundary and not receiving a parking pass will be eligible to receive an ORCA/METRO Card and bus pass.
Students must use their bus pass at least three (3) times per week to remain eligible. When it is determined that a card has not been used during a month it may be deactivated for non-use. Cards deactivated for non-use may be reactivated the following school year, if acceptable justification is provided.
Your ORCA Bus Pass is good on all King County Metro Transit buses. If you ride a Sound Transit bus or are on any other transit service, you will be required to pay the difference. There is a $124 fine for anyone who does not tap/scan their ORCA card or pay the fare.
Students will be given 4 each King County Metro, $.75 Bus Tickets for To & From school on August 30 & 31st. ORCA Cards won’t be loaded with a bus pass until September. If you tap your ORCA Card on the fare reader in August, the bus pass for September will load, that way you will know that it is ready for September 1st.
ORCA/Metro requires 3-5 work days to load a bus pass onto an ORCA Card. ORCA cards issued prior to the end of the first week of school will be pre-loaded with a bus pass for the month of September.
Timetables for complete Metro service are also available online at www.metro.kingcounty.gov or you may call Metro at 206-553-3000 for information.
