Preschool Age Programs
Research has shown that the multiage classroom have numerous characteristics which benefit children such as enhanced academic performance and a decrease in the gap in achievement. Effective instruction uses flexible grouping patterns so that children can consistently work in a variety of groups based upon their readiness, interest, learning preferences, teacher choice and child choice. Frequently, when children are grouped solely by one age, the curriculum becomes a one-size-fits all, even when we know that children of the same age are not “one size fits all.”
School Day "Preschool"
The school day preschool will be using curriculum that will provide a foundation for learning. We will use the Creative Curriculum framework to assess children’s skills and develop lesson plans to address their individual needs. We are working in partnership with district literacy and math curriculum experts to evaluate our pilot programs. We are also adopting the Virtues Project, an approach that the majority of Bellevue elementary schools use to create respectful classroom culture. The children will have a core group of teachers and assistants that will work with them throughout the day. The National Association for the Education of Young Children has identified that having a consistent, primary relationship with an early learning teacher, is key to a quality experience for children.
Programs are offered 5 days a week and follows the Elementary school year calendar. The class meets 6 hours on M, T, TH, and F and half days on Wednesdays.
Extended Day is available for additional care from 6:30am - 6:00pm, this includes full day care on conference days and half day Wednesdays.
Program offered at: Ardmore, Clyde Hill, Eastgate, Enatai, Medina, Sherwood Forest, Spiritridge, and Woodridge.

Spanish Immersion Preschool
The Spanish Immersion/Dual Language preschool will use the same curriculum and teaching model as the school day program. There will be at least one Spanish speaking staff person in the classroom and children will be taught in an educational environment that is multi-cultural, with second language learning experiences. Instructional staff will use the Creative Curriculum framework to help children learn in four areas of development; social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language using both English and Spanish.
Experts agree that learning language is a natural process when children are young. Young children learn to think in multiple languages and can become fluent with relative ease.
