PAAC

For Parents of English Language Learners, Culturally and Racially Diverse Students

The District’s Parent Action and Advisory Council (PAAC), has been in existence since 2004.

PAAC Mission:  To promote the highest levels of academic achievement for all students with a special focus on English language learners, culturally and racially diverse students or groups of students who need our advocacy. We are committed to an action-oriented approach to develop programs and practices that create the conditions for parent involvement and student success.

PAAC Strategies of achieving student success:

  • Help schools better serve parents of English Language Learners and culturally and racially diverse students by improving cross cultural communication skills, hiring interpreters whenever needed, and offering more parent education programs tailored to the needs of the families PAAC represents.
  • Help parents become better informed about the school system and ways in which the can support their children’s learning.
  • Help schools become comfortable places where parents feel they can speak up on behalf of their children.
  • Empower parents to learn strategies for working with school personnel.
