Impulso Escolar Latino de Bellevue

This group of Latino parents, which has representatives from many district schools, works with the school district to develop and offer programs that support Spanish-speaking parents in understanding the school system so they can participate more in the education of their students. The group also advises school and district leaders on strategies for increasing family involvement and helping eliminate the achievement gap for Latino students.

Parents, students and the community partner with the school district to ensure that Latino students have access to all available opportunities to complete higher level classes, graduate successfully and be assured of a positive future.

Strategies for achieving school success:

  • Orient Spanish-speaking parents to the school system, to strategies for helping their children achieve academically, and to ways they can be involved in schools.
  • Promote goal of college attendance among Spanish-speaking students and families.
  • Build parent leadership within the system
  • Help schools become more welcoming of Spanish-speaking families and learn enough about Latino culture to work effectively with parents.

Summer Opportunities Resource Fair

The Bellevue School District's 5th Annual Summer Opportunities Fair, hosted in partnership with the Parent Action Advisory Council (PAAC) and Impulso Escolar de Bellevue, provides an opportunity for families to come learn about summer programs and activities for every school age child and every budget.

Interpreters will be available to assist families in the following six languages:  Spanish, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese and Russian.
