Title IX Advisory Committee

Equity is an important value in the Bellevue School District and the District regularly engages in reviews to ensure we keep this value in sight. One area which needs review is the District’s federal Title IX compliance. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex, in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. The District is establishing a committee to serve in an advisory capacity as the District reviews its Title IX compliance efforts.

The role of the Title IX Advisory Committee will be to examine, review and assess relevant District programs from a Title IX perspective to determine if the District is compliant. The committee may make recommendations to the Superintendent on ways the District can achieve and maintain compliance.

Responsibilities of Committee Members:

• Attend all meetings, including any Title IX training meetings.
• Spend one or more hours per week researching best practices of Title IX compliance efforts. 
• Committee members may receive specific assignments to gather information from appropriate resources.
• Provide a report of Committee findings to the Superintendent.
• May make presentations to the Superintendent and the School Board.
