Online Program for Original Credit Advisory Committee

Purpose

The District plans to establish an online program for original credit. The District recognizes that the online learning environment provides students with unique opportunities to become self-disciplined learners with life-long learning skills and tremendous opportunities for students to access curriculum and specialized courses in a flexible learning environment that might not otherwise be available. Therefore, the District supports a range of online learning opportunities that are equally accessible to all students in the school district. The purpose of the Online Program for Original Credit Advisory Committee is to consider the operational and academic issues and generate a proposal for the design of the online learning program.

Role

The role of the members of Online Program for Original Credit Advisory Committee is:
  • Attend scheduled meetings, provide insight, make recommendations representative of parents
  • Serve as a communication link to the community they represent, collecting feedback from constituents (parents) to inform the committee
  • Assist in research and development of the online learning proposal
  • Through a consensus process, make a recommendation to the District for the implementation of online learning for original credit.

The District will review the work of the committee, revise as it deems appropriate, and present a formal proposal to BEA.

The District will negotiate with BEA regarding any changes needed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
