Advisory Committees

As a District, we value the perspective and collaborative input we receive from our community in the best interests of all children. This community of teachers, parents, students, staff and community members provides insight and teamwork to ensure our schools are a community effort.  The information you will find on this page summarizes the various committees that have been created to increase participation and transparency, as well as links to additional details on the work of specific committees and how you can get contribute.

 

Gifted Advisory Committee

The District is currently engaged in a review of the Gifted Program offerings in the district.  The Gifted Advisory Committee is comprised of parents, teachers and administrators who have been working to identify areas of strength and need in order to determine the scope of the program review. The goal of the committee’s work will be to make program recommendations to the district and the school board. LEARN MORE....

 

English Language Learners (ELL) Advisory Committee

The ELL Advisory Committee will determine the service delivery models most suited for English Language Learners in the Bellevue School District for consideration of program implementation. This Committee will sunset after a formal recommendation to the Director of Student Services and/or Superintendent’s Cabinet but may be reconvened for input on additional ELL matters. Online Program for Original Credit Advisory Committee

The District plans to establish an online program for original credit. The District recognizes that the online learning environment provides students with unique opportunities to become self-disciplined learners with life-long learning skills and tremendous opportunities for students to access curriculum and specialized courses in a flexible learning environment that might not otherwise be available. Therefore, the District supports a range of online learning opportunities that are equally accessible to all students in the school district. The purpose of the Online Program for Original Credit Advisory Committee is to consider the operational and academic issues and generate a proposal for the design of the online learning program. Title IX Advisory Committee

Equity is an important value in the Bellevue School District and the District regularly engages in reviews to ensure we keep this value in sight. One area which needs review is the District’s federal Title IX compliance. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex, in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. The District is establishing a committee to serve in an advisory capacity as the District reviews its Title IX compliance efforts. LEARN MORE...

 

Strategic Plan Advisory Committee

This committee is no longer meeting but may resume meetings in the future.

The School District is in the process of developing a five year Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is a district and community-based effort to develop a set of guiding principles and actionable strategies to guide the District’s short and long term plan to achieve success for all children. The Strategic Plan will be based on the ability to achieve the community’s vision for the education of children in Bellevue as well as the District’s current and future financial outlook.  The Plan will incorporate citizen surveys, focus groups and large community forums as well as recommendations from the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee.  LEARN MORE...

 

Fiscal Advisory Committee

This committee has completed their work.

The Fiscal Advisory Committee was created at the direction of Superintendent Amalia Cudeiro in the spring of 2010.  Committee members applied and were selected to represent the major stakeholder groups in the Bellevue community. The committee’s short-term purpose was to provide a rank-ordered list of possible budget savings (program, department, or line item) as well as revenue generation items.  This listing also received input from the community through a community input form and survey. Instructional Materials Committee

This committee is not meeting at this time.

The purpose of the Instructional Materials Committee (IMC) is to provide oversight that will guarantee that the established process has been observed in the selection of instructional materials recommended for adoption, and to recommend instructional materials to the Board of Directors for approval.  The committee is composed of eight members and includes:  the Director of Curriculum, one curriculum developer, one building administrator, three teachers, one librarian and one patron.

School Health Room and Life-Threatening Illness Service Delivery Model Advisory Review Committee

This committee has completed their work.

This advisory committee will investigate and review school health room service delivery models and ways in which to most effectively and efficiently meet the needs of students with life-threatening illnesses.  Related Board policies and procedures will be reviewed.  By the end of the 2010-2011 school year, the committee will make program, service delivery model and Board policy and procedure recommendations to the Cabinet.  The committee is comprised of district nurses, classified support staff, district administrators and parents/guardians of current Bellevue School District students.  The committee facilitator is Patty Siegwarth, Executive Director of Special Services. LEARN MORE...

 

Joint School-Based Donation Advisory Committee

This committee has completed their work.

School-based donations, particularly by the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), have always been a positive and important way for communities to support schools.  In 2010, a community dialogue began regarding how such private donations are used from school to school, as well as the differences in private donation levels from school to school. The BSD-PTSA Joint School-Based Donation Advisory Committee was formed to explore equity models throughout the country to see if one could work for Bellevue.
