Breakout Sessions

Successful Transition to Middle School
The transition to middle school may seem intimidating, but often the rumors are worse than the reality.  A panel of middle school students will address academic and social challenges and successes in their middle school experience.

School Funding 101

Washington State has a duty to fund basic education, yet getting adequate funding is very difficult for our schools.  Come learn about the challenges and what you can do to improve the situation.

Checking Your Student’s Emotional Backpack

Students are not always able to express what is bothering them, and parents often need to read unspoken signals to know their help is needed.  Teens and counselors will talk about real issues that affect their lives.

Curriculum Pathways to Careers

Bellevue high schools offer an array of pre-professional programs that provide practical career experience to committed students.  Come hear teachers from our NEVAC and Tech Prep programs talk about how their courses create employable students.

Close Encounter with BSD Leaders

Dr. Amalia Cudeiro and other leaders in the Bellevue School District will explain new district initiatives and processes underway and invite your input.

Language-Specific Breakout Sessions

Breakout sessions will be offered in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean.  Topics have been developed by volunteers from the Parent Action and Advisory Committee.

Differentiated Instruction

Every school in Bellevue is rigorously reviewing student performance data and formulating plans to address different achievement gaps. Learn how teachers are differentiating instruction in their classrooms.

Using the Connected Curriculum

The standard connected curriculum, the basis for improvement in our schools, ensures that all students have equal access to a great education.  Learn how teachers use and create curriculum resources and what you can access yourself.

Childcare

Childcare will be available for BSD parents attending the program.  Parents must remain on-site at all times.
