Robinswood High Assessments:

The federal No Child Left Behind Act requires that students be assessed each year in reading and math, grades 3 through 8, plus once in high school. In Washington State, we test each spring with the WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning).

WASL tests are intended to assess whether students have sufficiently mastered a set of grade-level standards for a particular subject. In other words, “How many students have learned what they need to know – and can demonstrate that learning?” Some test questions are multiple-choice, but most require students to explain their answers and ask for short or extended responses. WASL scores are reported in 4 levels: “Exceeds Standard,” “Meets Standard,” “Below Standard,” and “Well Below Standard.”

A Robinswood Staff Commitment to Excellence!  Excellence in education requires choices! There is another way - come meet with us, discuss with us, and question with us!

If we can convince young people about their uniqueness and enable them to take control of their lives, they will no longer feel manipulated by forces outside themselves.  The Robinswood High School staff believes that students possess extraordinary qualities which allow them to take control of their lives.  We believe this "freeing" of the individual can be accomplished best through the acquisition of knowledge.  Knowledge is best acquired in an atmosphere that promotes mutual respect and freedom of choice.

Choice and respect in learning environments allow ordinary kids to become extraordinary students. (This environment invites students to excel.)

Special Features of Robinswood High:

All students attending Robinswood High School enroll by choice as either full-time or dual-enrolled students from other Bellevue high schools.

• Strict attendance policy coupled with contract learning
• 90-minute class periods
• Flexible course schedules that permit work and other time commitments
• Vocational education
• Small class sizes
• Nursery services for teen parents
• Partnership with local agencies to support student emotional and social development.
