Update: Congratulations to Odle Middle School’s Science Bowl team, which placed second out of 48 teams and was awarded $1000 for the school at the National Science Bowl, held April 27-May 1 in Washington D.C. 

Congratulations to Odle Middle School students Neil Chowdhury, Mahathi Mangipudi, David Lee, Daniel Sun, and Emily Feng for winning the regional Science Bowl tournament on Feb. 4 at the University of Portland, and advancing on to the next competition for the National Science Bowl.

The team placed first out of 64 teams from Washington and Oregon. The team is coached by Rina Chowdhury with the guidance from Interlake High School teacher Michael O’Byrne.

They will travel to Washington D.C. on an all-expenses paid trip, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, to compete with other regional champion teams at the National Finals April 27 – May 1.

Science Bowl is a buzzer-based fast response quiz program testing the participants’ depth and breadth of knowledge in the areas of chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, energy, and earth and space.
