At the December 13, 2016 meeting, the Bellevue School Board signed Resolution 2016-14.

Reaffirmation of a Non-discriminatory and a Non-Harassment, Non-Intimidation, Non-Bullying School Environment

WHEREAS, in our community, we have strong and unwavering values regarding the humanity and dignity of every person, the importance of showing compassion to each other, and the right of individuals to freedom and safety; and

WHEREAS, the Bellevue School District Board of Directors has and continues to be committed to fostering safe and healthy environments conducive to learning; and

WHEREAS, the Bellevue School District Board of Directors has and continues to be committed to protecting all rights afforded to students under federal and state law and regulations, and Bellevue School District policies and procedures; and

WHEREAS, the Bellevue School District Board of Directors has worked to cultivate an environment of acceptance, support, and kindness for all; and

WHEREAS, the Bellevue School District Board of Directors is committed to its 2016-2017 priorities: Racial Equity, Inclusion and Culture of Service.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Bellevue School District Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to provide an equitable educational opportunity and treatment for each and every student in all aspects of the academic and activities  without discrimination based on race, religion, creed, color, national origin, age, honorably-discharged veteran or military status, sex, sexual orientation (gender expression or identity), marital status, the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability AND to fostering a safe and civil educational environment for all students, employees, parents/legal guardians, volunteers and community members that is free from harassment, intimidation or bullying.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
