On April 29 the Washington Association of Bilingual Education invited students from Stevenson Elementary, Odle Middle School and Tillicum Middle School to perform dances from the students’ home country of India. More than 1,000 educators watched the performances, which included a folk dance from the northern state of Gujrat and traditional wedding dances.

The student dancers are members of the Indian Dance Club. The club was organized by parent volunteers at Stevenson to celebrate Indian culture and heritage. Due to popularity the club expanded to include middle school students from Tillicum and Odle.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
