Congratulations to Big Picture junior Kai Pacifico Eng who was named a distinguished finalist for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.  Eng will receive an engraved bronze medallion in the spring to commemorate the prestigious award.

Eng received this recognition because of his impressive community service activities.  He helped raise $13,000 for Seattle Young People’s Project, a youth-run organization that helps develop leadership skills.  Eng also volunteers as a peer leader with The Service Board, a mentoring, leadership and community service program.

Based on Eng’s number of volunteer hours, he also qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service award.  This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered a significant amount of time to service their communities and country.
