Congratulations to Newport High School teacher Melissa Baker who was recognized as the 2015 “Educator of the Year” at the Micro Nano Technology Conference.  The award was presented to Baker in the summer at the Museum of Flight.  The conference was held by Seattle’s Hub for Industry-Driven Nanotechnology Education (SHINE).

Baker teaches nanotechnology at Newport.  She loves teaching the class because it brings together the core science classes: biology, chemistry and physics.

Baker said, “It is a great class for students considering a career in Stem because we talk about exciting science research that is happening right now!”

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
